Ventoy: A Multi-Boot USB Solution

Ventoy is an open-source tool for creating bootable USB drives with ISO files. Its main feature is allowing you to easily copy multiple bootable ISO files, such as Linux distributions and Windows installation media, into a “normal” partition on a USB drive. When you boot from the USB drive, Ventoy presents a menu to select the ISO file you wish to boot from. For more features and installation guidance, refer to the official documentation.

Currently, I’m using a 64GB DIY USB drive (purchased from Taobao) for Ventoy. I opted for the GPT partition scheme (the default is MBR) and have formatted the following three partitions:

  1. Ventoy, 45GB ExFAT for storing ISO files.
  2. VTOYEFI, 32MB FAT16, EFI System Partition (ESP) for UEFI boot.
  3. XXXX, 16GB APFS Encrypted for my private files.

The first two partitions are created by Ventoy.
